The Final Years

On the day of Dhanteras in 1982 Mansukhkaka died following a car accident in Nairobi. Mansukhkaka was like a son to Pappa. Three days later it was Bestu Varash and as per custom, people came to the shop in Mombasa to wish everyone a happy new year. Kumarkaka was very upset but Pappa told him that people didn’t know about Mansukhkakas passing away and simply wanted to wish us well! Pappa had so much patience and foresight.

After Mansukhkaka died, Pappa wanted to go to India, but Rameshbhai felt that his heart was not strong enough and asked him to wait for a while until his health was better. Ashwinkaka and Pappa had words and Ashwinkaka walked out of the house. No-one knew where he went, so Jaishreekaki and Indirakaki got worried and phoned Daddy and Kumarkaka who were in Dusseldorf. Daddy phoned Pappa and suggested that he should go to Pappa in Nairobi. Pappa relented and said that there was no need, he would delay going to India!
